Aleksandr Vasilyevich Kolchak
(1874- 7 February 1920)
Aleksandr Kolchak was born in St. Petersburg in 1874. His father was in the Marine Artillery. Aleksandr studied Geology and Geography, becoming a polar explorer upon graduating. Kolchak was in Japan at the time of the February Revolution in 1917. Kolchak immediately returned to Russia. Kolchak enlisted to fight alongside the Whites and British intervention and against the Bolsheviks. He became a minister in the Siberian Regional Government. Aleksandr became Commander of the Whites, becoming Supreme Ruler of Russian Anti-Communist forces. Kolchak was handed over to the Soviet Communist SR Forces in Irkutsk on January 4th 1920. He was shot and executed on February 7th, before being kicked into the frozen Angara River. BENJAMIN T O'NEILL |
