 Mirsäyet Xäydärğäli ulı Soltanğäliev 

(13 July 1892 - 28 January 1940)

 Mirsäyet Xäydärğäli ulı Soltanğäliev was born in Elembet'evo, Russia in 1892. His father was a teacher, who had 12 children.  Mirsäyet Xäydärğäli ulı Soltanğäliev studied at the Kazan College (Tatar State University of Humanities) and graduated in 1911. He became a school teacher and librarian. In 1912, he began a subcareer in journalism. 

In WWI, he moved to Baku, becoming a full-time political journalist. In July 1917, he established the Muslim Russian Socialistic Committee [a left-wing Party] with a similar manifesto to the Bolsheviks. 

He later joined the Bolshevik Party in December 1917. He remained in Kazan for the duration of 1918, organizing the defenses of the city. He was accused of pro-Islamic deviations and was expelled from the Bolshevik party. He was arrested in 1924, following the death of Lenin and further arrests were made in 1928, 1930 and 1937. In December 1939, he was given the death sentence, which was carried out on 28th January 1940 in Moscow under Stalin's order. He was executed for being 'an independent Muslim amongst an Orthodox party'.
