Vladimir Kappel

(28 April 1883 --> 26 January 1920)

Vladimir was born in Petrograd, Russia, in 1883. During WWI, he was Chief of 347th Infantry Regiment Staff. From 1917, he commanded the Komuch White Army Group (The White Army was anti-communist, anti-Soviet and anti-Bolshevist). After the execution of Aleksandr Kolchak in Irkutsk, they untertook a winter march towards Chita- 'The Great Siberian Ice March' during which Vladimir Kappel died of frostbite on January 26th 1920.
